Shocker: This 4th—or really, 6th—installment of ultra violence is bold and fresh!
What’s most likable about AFTER is its considerably gentle spirit. It’s a suspense thriller that doesn’t rely on cynicism or brutality to get its suspense or thrills. In the end, it has a message of hope and warmth, which is actually quite refreshing in this genre nowadays. AFTER is a complex, haunting and thoroughly satisfying thriller. Ryan Smith is truly a director to keep an eye on!
Should you check out AFTER tonight @ 9:45pm? Take a look at this review from Arrow in the Head.
UPDATE: This was truly a film that got away from us this year, with it’s DVD pushed up prior to the festival, we had to pull it from the line up. I suggest you get out there and find it!
Parents may not have favourite children, but this member of the TAD programming team definitely has his favourite films in our line up this year. One of our best films this year in my opinion is EXCISION. In it’s own words…
Pauline wishes that reconnecting with her mother was as easy as picking scabs. Or that fixing her sister’s lung disorder was as simple as dissecting road kill. Maybe the other girls at school would be nicer to her if they knew she fantasized about performing surgery on them…
I really enjoyed the looks of confusion, shock, and sometimes disgust on the random faces of those FanExpo attendees who happened to wander by our booth as this trailer played. Check it out for yourself.
Check out the back story on the release of AFTER. Screening at Toronto After Dark on Sunday October 21st @ 9:45pm
SCIENCE can’t be wrong, read all about it here!
And by the way, our opening gala is GRABBERS! Thursday October 18th @ 6:45pm
I’m not exactly digging the floating heads, but this Japanese poster for UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING is much better than it’s domestic counterparts. No doubt much ass will be kicked during its Canadian premiere at Toronto After Dark!
When there is no more room in Hell, the screeners will block the TV.
