UPDATE: This was truly a film that got away from us this year, with it’s DVD pushed up prior to the festival, we had to pull it from the line up. I suggest you get out there and find it!

Parents may not have favourite children, but this member of the TAD programming team definitely has his favourite films in our line up this year. One of our best films this year in my opinion is EXCISION. In it’s own words…

Pauline wishes that reconnecting with her mother was as easy as picking scabs. Or that fixing her sister’s lung disorder was as simple as dissecting road kill. Maybe the other girls at school would be nicer to her if they knew she fantasized about performing surgery on them…

I really enjoyed the looks of confusion, shock, and sometimes disgust on the random faces of those FanExpo attendees who happened to wander by our booth as this trailer played. Check it out for yourself.

Where do we go, where do we go now?

The Toronto film community has known for a while now that the venerable Bloor Cinema is closed for renovations until the Fall, reopening under the management of HotDocs. In the meantime, where’s a genre fan to go? Well, Rue Morgue Magazine’s monthly Cinemacabre movie night has moved to the Toronto Underground Theatre, and on July 21st is giving us a FREE 35mm screening of Tom Holland’s 1985 vampire classic FRIGHT NIGHT! Not too shabby.
